Even as D.C. officials move to raze RFK Stadium, the future of the 190-acre site is as uncertain as ever.

The land is owned by the federal government, and the current lease stipulates that it must be used for recreational activities. It may not always be that way; the District could try to buy the land, or renegotiate the lease. But then what?

Mayor Muriel Bowser actively favors a return of the Washington football team, and many Washingtonians share that desire. What would a new stadium bring to the city? What do the alternatives look like? What do we know about the economic effects of new stadiums? And how do cities decide what to prioritize when it comes to making decisions for huge tracts of land CityLab and DCist will gather a panel of local experts to weigh in.

The event is presented by DCist and CityLab. Invite your friends on Facebook! The event is free and open for all to attend but please RSVP on our EventBrite page here as space is limited.
