We are always looking for entry level booksellers. We are looking for some who would like to be with Solid State Books for at least a year. Must love people and books in that order. Must be able to lift boxes over 35 pounds regularly. This can be a fun job, but can be fairly stressful at times. It is not a job for someone who thinks they will be able to sit & read all day. People with book or retail experience preferred. We usually hire for full-time, but occasionally hire for part-time.

Sample of job duties:

• Work the sales floor engaging customers and providing helpful information or recommendations

• Shelve books and ensure that the store is well merchandised (this includes balancing sections and filling displays with appropriate titles and gifts).

• Accurately alphabetize book sections

• Operate the cash register and store computer to accept payments, place special orders for customers, make change adhering to safe cash handling procedures

• Provide general store cleaning that includes: vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, cleaning the bathrooms, stocking the alcohol & beverage refrigerators, and straightening shelves, displays, and register areas

• Keep up to date on details of store events, promotions, and programs to better serve guests

• Participate in annual inventory

• Keep up to date on current and bestselling books as well as upcoming publications through Shelf Awareness, Publishers Weekly, and Edelweiss+
